Castle and Town
Ortahisar Castle is a structure carved into a natural rock mass, similar to Uchisar. The 86-meter-high castle dominates the town's silhouette. Opened to visitors after restoration work, the castle offers magnificent valley views.
The town offers an opportunity to experience authentic Cappadocian life with its structure away from tourist crowds. Stone houses and traditional life can be observed while walking through narrow streets.
Cave Storage
One of the most interesting features of Ortahisar is the natural cold storage carved into the rocks. Thanks to constant temperature and humidity levels, these caves have been used for storing lemons and oranges for centuries.
This unique storage method is an important part of the region's agricultural heritage and makes Ortahisar one of Cappadocia's hidden treasures.
