Rose Valley
Famous for its rocks that turn red at sunset, Rose Valley is one of Cappadocia's most romantic valleys with unique hiking trails, wine churches, and fairy chimneys.
Highlights
Sunset Views
Rose Valley takes its name from the reddish-pink hues the rocks take on at sunset. The valley's viewing terraces are Cappadocia's most popular sunset spots. The volcanic rocks, rich in iron oxide, offer a mesmerizing color display in shades of pink, red, and orange with the sunlight.
Vineyards and Churches
Traces of an ancient winemaking tradition can be seen in the valley. The Grape Church (Church of the Cross) features grape motifs in its frescoes and reflects the region's wine culture. Pigeon houses carved into the slopes of the valley were built to collect pigeon droppings used as natural fertilizer in agriculture.
