Ozkonak Underground City
An underground city with a unique defense system featuring communication holes between floors, away from the crowds.
Highlights
Discovery and Features
Ozkonak was discovered in 1972 by farmer Latif Acar while investigating where water from his field was draining. Four of its 10 levels are open to visitors. The small holes used for communication between floors are the most distinctive feature that sets this city apart from others.
Defense System
Ozkonak's unique defense system consists of communication holes between floors. These holes allowed people on lower levels to communicate with upper floors. Special channels were also designed to pour hot oil on enemies. Being less touristy, it offers a peaceful visit experience.
