Ottoman Period

Multicultural Life

During the Ottoman period, Turkish, Greek, and Armenian communities lived together in Cappadocia. This coexistence is particularly reflected in architecture; towns like Mustafapasa (Sinasos) and Guzelyurt (Gelveri) are witnesses of this period with their stone mansions and churches.

Civil Architecture

During the Ottoman period, mosques, bathhouses, madrasas, and mansions were built in the region. Historic mansions in Urgup, Avanos, and Nevsehir present beautiful examples of Ottoman civil architecture. Nevsehir, the birthplace of Grand Vizier Damat Ibrahim Pasha, developed during this period.
